I keep hearing of firms here in LA deciding instead of getting
another T1 or two, to get in DSL instead.

And several such firms finding the low cost ease of increasing
DSL bandwidth with a phone call to result in getting rid of all
the T1s in that facility, but with at least two different
DSL providers per typical business requirements for critical
system up time. They were getting their T1's from two different
providers and felt the DSL was the same.

Both Verizon and PacBell now offer business DSL to a level that
astounded me. Guaranteed up time 24x7 otherwise fee reductions
but only with static IPs.

Considering that the local substation difference between
a T1 and a DSL line is just an box called a DSLAM for DSL
and then both lines go into a router...
