I somehow forgot to respond to this part. A reasonable person might read the law and see things in a "unique" way. However, if said person persists in this view despite looking at both the intent behind the drafting of the law and the case law that follows, they are no longer being reasonable. The basis of our legal system is that the courts interpret the laws.
Curiously, each of us doesn't get to interpret the law however we see fit. ;-)
