The solution.

Download 1210 PPD file from this web page:

 http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-PSC_1210

Copy the PPD file to /usr/share/cups/model/HP.

Install printer as typically would using Yast. PSC 1210 is now a driver
choice offered under HP.
