Hi group,

I am not able to print from either win2k or winxp clients to a printer
attached to a linux samba server. The printer does work; I can print to it
using cups from any linux client on the lan. The samba server is running
mandrivel 2006.

The samba server is acting as a pdc; the winblows boxen are able to log in and
access shares on the server ok. They see the printers and appear to connect
to them successfully. Windows drivers are installed on the clients. Here
are the relevant parts of my smb.conf file--if you need to see the entire
thing let me know.

[printers]
	comment = All Printers
	path = /var/spool/samba
	guest ok = Yes
	printable = Yes
	browseable = No

[OfficeJet-5500]
	comment = OfficeJet-5500
	path = /var/spool/samba
	read only = No
	guest ok = Yes
	printable = Yes
	printer name = OfficeJet-5500
	use client driver = Yes
	oplocks = No
	share modes = No

[root at foo root]# ls -ld /var/spool/samba
drwxrwxrwx  2 root root 4096 Apr 19 22:20 /var/spool/samba/

[root at foo root]# which smbspool
/usr/bin/smbspool
[root at foo root]# ll /usr/bin/smbspool
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 26 Nov 27
16:05 /usr/bin/smbspool -> /etc/alternatives/smbspool*
[root at foo root]# ll /etc/alternatives/smbspool
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 18 Nov 28
19:41 /etc/alternatives/smbspool -> /usr/bin/smbspool3*
[root at foo root]# ll /usr/bin/smbspool3
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root 673164 Dec 22  2004 /usr/bin/smbspool3*

/var/log/cups/error_log shows this:
I [19/Apr/2006:22:20:56 -0700] Job 51 queued on 'OfficeJet-5500' by 'steve'.
I [19/Apr/2006:22:20:56 -0700] Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp (PID
23036) for job 51.

Then the thing just hangs...

Any suggestions appreciated. If you need more info please let me know.

Thanks,
