I am glad they are improving COM. However thats just the client side. 
There is quite a bit more involved. It is hard to explain. I guess I 
need to write up a detailed article on the issue. There are snippets of 
information on the issue throughout the net.

Its not that simple unfortunately. It would require a decent amount of 
rework on wines part. And they don't want to take up the task. They 
would rather do it there way. Unfortunately by forging ahead on there 
own they keep a lot of software from running.
