Mandrake merged with Connectiva and is now Connectiva. Upgrades are
the same procedure. Personally, I build systems with a seperate /home
partition. When a new version of the distro comes out, I reinstall,
formatting / and preserving /home. Servers are a bit different story,
harder to upgrade in place. If you need newer versions of programs, get
the newer src.rpm and rebuild it on that older machine. Can get kind of
hairy and difficult the older the distro becomes, but it's a valid way
of keeping apps current (and not able to be exploited).
