Ugh, typo on my part.  Yes, the name is in fact now Mandriva.

There was a trademark dispute with Hearst over the Mandrake name, and it
was the reason it was always called "Mandrake Linux" in documentation
and pictures and advertising.  One big problem was that the original 
penguin had a tophat and cape and wand.  Were it not for that, I think
things would have fared differently with the Mandrake name.  Here's the
obligatory IANAL though...
