[Lula] OT - which is better for a desktop replacement

Hi Guys,

I'm about to get a new laptop, and have a good budget. The machine will
be running Debian, and will be a full production desktop replacement.

To that end, I was wondering ... : (here it comes ...)

AMD64, or
Pentium M or,
Intel Duo Core.... 

for CPU

I wonder if anyone can give me the lowdown on which is better for what
type of work and why ?
