In the past when I had Linux running on a 7200 (with an upgraded 604e
CPU), I had used open firmware to boot directly to Linux.  Because I
was using an ATI PCI video card instead of the built-in, I also had to
make sure I got the video device right.  There's also a utility that
lets you write to the nvram settings in Linux, but I can't remember
the name of it.
