How much RAM do you have? The base unit only had 128MB.
You need the alternate install disc if you have less than 256MB,
and you need a lightweight Linux distro anyway to
get any performance. See e.g.
http://xubuntu.org/get
Do you have a CD-ROM drive?
Googling for your model and 'linux' shows that some
distros need a couple boot options added to access the cd-rom, too.
