Hi guys, I have a proposal for the May meeting. I'm a
part of the "Hip Chips" world-wide festival of laptop
music. However instead of doing a conventional laptop
music show at a club, I'd rather do a
lecture/demo/interactive jam session for the May LULA
meeting.
What I'd like to do is first talk about making music
with Linux on laptops, some of the issues that must be
overcome, and suggested distro's to use to build a
linux music laptop.
Then I'll do a demo performance with some of my
favorite music software, to show what can be done
musically with linux, and then I want to open things
up to let people attending the meeting to come up and
try their hand at jamming with linux music software.
This would take the whole meeting time, but since it
would be advertised on the Hip Chips site and Ars
Electronica, there may be a good sized turnout.
Anyways just a change of pace from talking about linux
as a server.
Also since its focussed on music, its not a talk that
would be more appropriate for the Linux Movies group.
I would like to do this in May to give myself some
time to setup a demo machine, and to get Andrew
Morton's new low latency patches for 2.6 working.
