-- The City of Los Angeles comtemplates OpenOffice.org : How the FOSS
community can help

Los Angeles City Councilmembers Eric Garcetti, Wendy Greuel, and Jack
Weiss have introduced a motion to divert scarce dollars away from a
propriatary office productivity software to OpenOffice.org. They
anticipate the savings to the City of Los Angeles to be in the 5 million
dollar range. The money saved will instead be diverted into a fund for
LAPD expansion.

How can the Los Angeles FOSS community help? Want to know some
specifics? Chelsea Shure from MWW Group, a political affairs firm
downtown, will take you through the ins and outs of communicating with
political creatures in the most effective way.
Chelsea will cover
 * how to present your case
 * introducing yourself to your elected officials
 * possible pitfalls for open source advocates
 * How to lobby City Hall.
 * where to go for more information
